‘Vox Liminis’? It’s Latin. It means the voice from the threshold. Who knew, eh?
We’re a charity who shine a light on different people’s experiences of the criminal justice system, through the arts. What does a just society look like? What’s it like to experience the current criminal justice system in Scotland? Or grow up with your brother or sister in jail?
Through song-writing, art and film we help people who’ve had radically different lives to engage in conversation – people talk from the ‘threshold’ of their own experience to other folk whose lives have been different to their own.
What does that look like?
Sometimes that means writing nursery rhymes with young families whose lives have been turned upside down by imprisonment; other times it means helping someone in prison to write a song for the first time in their life, and then getting that song played on the radio. Music and art can bring us together, help us through dark times, and offer a way for us to talk about difficult issues.
