Ross Street Market

Ross Street Market launched in December 2016, introducing a new monthly arts, food and drink outdoor market in the East End of Glasgow. Ross Street Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 11am - 5pm, as part of the historic Barras Market.

Ross Street Market is the result of a 6-month design + build project commissioned by Many Studios to the University of Strathclyde. In response to the project, Fraser Yardley and Gina Colley created the design for six striking, modular stalls that considered the changing climate of the Barras Market and sought to celebrate and expand upon the existing identity of the Barras Market.

MANY Studios is working with strEAT - an innovative organisation that brings together arts and food/drink to create vibrant and fun events in Glasgow.

Barrowland Ballroom

The Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom is Scotland's premier rock venue. Probably the best wee venue in the world.

The original building opened in 1934 in a mercantile area east of Glasgow's city centre, built by "Barra Queen" Maggie McIver. In more recent years, the Ballroom has become a major concert venue with a capacity of around 2,100 people, known for its acoustics and its sprung dance floor. Simple Minds filmed the video for their 1983 hit single, "Waterfront", at Barrowlands.[3] Oasis, U2, The Stranglers, The Clash, The Smiths, Big Country, Muse, Foo Fighters and Marillion were a number of the acts to play the hall. Adjacent to the Ballroom itself is the Barrowland Park where there is a pathway which features the names of many artists who have played at the venue over the decades.

The People's Palace

The People’s Palace, set in historic Glasgow Green, is home to a collection of historical artefacts, photographs, prints and film, which gives an unrivalled insight into how Glaswegians lived, worked and played from the 18th to the 20th Century.

The People’s Palace tells the story of Glasgow and its people, while the adjacent Winter Gardens is filled with exotic palms and plants.

The city’s social history can be explored through the collection and the exhibits give a wonderful insight into how Glaswegians lived, worked and played in years gone by.
